B i o g r a p h y

Gustavo Porras was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1983. He began studying music and guitar at the Conservatorio de Castella when he was 12 years old. After graduating from this high school, he became a Guitar major under the guidance of Master Pablo Ortiz at the National University of Costa Rica (UNA) from which he then graduated.
He had been a member of several guitar and cultural groups in his country such as The Conservatorio Castella Guitar Orchestra, National University of Costa Rica Guitar Orchestra and the UNA Guitar Quartet and has participated in numerous master classes and seminars by international masters such as Manuel Barrueco, Leo Brouwer, Eduardo Martin, Alejandro Cordova, Rafael Padron and John Patitucci.

Gustavo currently combines his work as a guitarist and composer with teaching at music schools in Santo Domingo and San Pablo in the province of Heredia, where he currently resides.
